The May 2027 exam specifics
The AP US History exam for May 2027 is administered on the first Tuesday of May (most likely May 4, 2027). The exam is 3 hours 15 minutes. The format follows the 2020 redesign:
- Section I, Part A: 55 minutes, 55 MCQ
- Section I, Part B: 40 minutes, 3 SAQs
- Section II, Part A: 60 minutes, 1 DBQ
- Section II, Part B: 40 minutes, 1 LEQ (choose 2 of 3 prompts)
The score is released in early July 2027. The score is on the 1–5 scale, with 5 = extremely well qualified, 4 = well qualified, 3 = qualified, 2 = possibly qualified, 1 = no recommendation.
The College Board publishes the official APUSH Course and Exam Description (CED) every 4–5 years. The 2026 academic year uses the 2020 CED (no changes).
