The four-phase topic strategy
The 14 weeks split into four phases. Each phase has a different AI tutor mode.

- Column 3 — Current score. The child's most recent score on a past-paper question for that topic, on a 0–100 scale.
Topics are sorted by weight × (100 − current score) descending. The highest-priority topic is the one with the highest exam weight and the lowest current score. The lowest-priority topic is the one with the lowest exam weight and the highest current score. The matrix changes over the 14 weeks. Topics that started in the top half move down as the child masters them. - For application gaps, generates a 3-minute re-teach: a similar question with model answer, then a 2-question micro-check.
- For exam-technique gaps, generates a 1-minute prompt: "On question 4, you misread 'explain' as 'describe'. 'Explain' requires a reason, 'describe' requires a feature. Re-read the command word before answering next time."
The whole loop takes 8 to 12 minutes per missed question. A child who misses 8 marks on a 2-hour paper spends about 90 minutes on the re-teach — exactly the daily routine window. The next day, the AI tutor runs a 5-question micro-check on the previous day's missed topics. If the child scores 4 or 5 out of 5, the topic moves down the priority matrix. If the child scores 2 or fewer, the topic stays at the top and the re-teach is repeated with a different worked example.
What this looks like across 8 to 10 GCSEs
A typical UK Year 11 child takes 8 to 10 GCSEs: English Language, English Literature, Maths, Combined Science or separate sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), a language (French, Spanish, German, or Mandarin), a humanities (Geography or History), and 1 to 3 free options (Religious Studies, Computer Science, Business, Psychology, etc.). The 14-week plan must cover all of them, but not equally. The weighting comes from three factors:
- The exam-date order. The first paper gets the highest pre-paper focus. The last paper gets the lowest pre-paper focus because it has the longest runway.
- The current grade trajectory. A child who is on track for a grade 8 in Maths but on track for a grade 5 in French should weight Maths lower (consolidation) and French higher (gap closure).
- The university prerequisite. A child aiming at A-level Chemistry must weight GCSE Chemistry highest. A child aiming at A-level English Literature must weight English Literature highest. The prerequisite subjects get the highest weight regardless of current grade.

Common failure modes
Three failure modes catch most Year 11 families in the 14-week window:
- Starting in May. Most UK families start serious GCSE revision in May, two weeks before the first paper. February is the right month.
- Grinding without measuring. A child who sits 4 past papers per week but never marks them, never identifies the gaps, and never re-teaches the gaps is wasting the time. The number of papers sat is not the metric. The number of missed marks re-taught and re-tested is the metric.
- Burning out by Easter. A child who runs the 90-minute routine every evening from February half-term without a rest day will be exhausted by the start of the Easter holiday. The plan must include one full rest day per week (Sunday is the obvious choice), one full week of reduced intensity (the spring half-term week), and a hard stop on revision by 8 pm each evening.
